The Department is headed by the Commissioner Transport Services and Infrastructure
The Department of Transport Services and Infrastructure commits to;
i) Initiate, formulate and review Policies, Laws, Strategies for Transport and Logistics Services and Infrastructure;
ii) Coordinate plans for Transport Services and Infrastructure in relation to road, water, rail and air transport modes;
iii) Carry out research to identify requirements for equitable development, improvement and modernization of transport services and infrastructure and logistics;
iv) Assess the impact of each transport mode developed for socio-economic development of the Country.
v) Develop projects and programs for provision of transport services and infrastructure and logistics; (Meter Gauge Railway, Standard Gauge Railway, Kabalega International Airport, Bukasa Port, upgrade of regional airports and East African Civil Aviation Academy);
vi) Assess and evaluate costs of transport and logistics services for all transport modes;
vii) Monitor and evaluate performance of Uganda Railway Corporation, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and Uganda Airlines to ensure efficiency; and
viii) Coordinate activities of national, sub-regional, Regional and International organizations concerned with provision of transport services and infrastructure with a view to adopting the current international development trends.
