The Department of Mechanical Engineering Services commits to;

 

i) Initiate, develop and review guidelines, policies and standards for models/make of vehicles and Ferries for government usage and private garages and workshops;

 

ii) Tender advice to Government and other users on aspects related to vehicles and plant, machinery and equipment and Ferries.

 

iii) Inspect Government equipment and vehicles annually for condition assessment;

 

iv) Maintain an inventory of Government vehicles, machinery and ferries with continuous updates of new procurements, registered and boarded off;

 

v) Service and repair District and MoWT Force Account Road equipment;

 

vi) Install, maintain and de-commission Bailey Bridges;

 

vii) Evaluate equipment and vehicles for procurement, arbitration or disposal purposes;

 

viii) Plan, manage and operate the Ministry’s fleet of vehicles, equipment, machinery and ferries;

 

ix) Transport State guests and members of the National Organizing Committees for State functions;

 

x) Monitor the operations and management of all government ferries and other delegated ferries and vessels;

 

xi) Monitor usage and management of government vehicles, Plant and Machinery on a quarterly basis;

 

xii) Train road equipment operators and mechanics; and

 

xiii) Support Ministry of Foreign Affairs in management of Government protocol fleet.
