The Department is headed by the Commissioner Transport Regulation and Safety
The Department of Transport Regulation and Safety commits to;
i. License a Public Service Vehicle within 30 minutes of receipt of application
ii. Issue a Public Service Vehicle Operator License within 1 day after it is approved in a public hearing.
iii. Issue a Driving Licence within 1 hour at the Head office in Kampala and within 24hrs at the upcountry UDLS offices.
iv. Inspect and license a driving school within 5 working days
v. Inspect a vehicle for roadworthiness and environmental compliance within 45 minutes upon presenting vehicle for inspection.
vi. Register a motor vehicle within two days for first-time registration and within one day for post registration
vii. Inspect and license a garage within 5 working days
viii. Issue a manufacturer’s Licence within 5 working days
