The Minister of State for Works and Transport [Works], Hon. Musa Ecweru, has today concluded a two-day inspection and support supervision exercise across key road projects in the Eastern and Karamoja sub-regions.
The Minister inspected works along the Muyembe–Nakapiripirit Road [92.2Km] and the Moroto–Lokitanyara Road [42Km] now under defects liability period [the post-construction phase during which the contractor remains responsible for correcting any defects that appear after the works have been completed and handed over].
The inspection is conducted under a support supervision framework aimed at strengthening oversight, identifying implementation gaps and ensuring that ongoing works deliver value for money.
Hon. Ecweru emphasized that field-based supervision remains critical in driving performance across projects;
“Our role is to ensure that what is designed is what is delivered; that is, roads that are durable, safe, and serving the intended purpose. We must stay on site, engage teams, and resolve challenges in real time.”
Throughout the exercise, the Minister also interacted with local leaders and communities, gathering feedback on project impact and addressing concerns related to access, drainage, and right-of-way management.
